President Biden will announce a new military aid package for Ukraine in his remarks this morning, according to a senior administration official. The package is $800 million, the official said.
Russia’s war with Ukraine entered a new phase this week as Moscow targets Eastern Europe. The move is seen as a bid for Russia to cement its grip on the Donbas region, an area made up of two pro-Russian self-declared “republics” of Luhansk and Donetsk.
How Russia’s latest offensive goes in the Donbas region could be extremely significant and decisive in the war against Ukraine, analysts warn. It could determine how Ukraine’s territorial boundaries will look in weeks and years to come.
