FSU Panama City to offer a degree in financial planning

Florida State University Panama City has received recognition as a registered program with the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) Board to offer a new bachelor’s degree in financial planning.

FSU’s new financial planning degree includes the CFP curriculum for financial planning and trains students in additional finance-related areas such as financial counseling, investments, portfolio management, estate planning, risk management, customer service financial / consulting, ethics and finance. entrepreneurship.

“I want to commend the FSU PC faculty and administration for their outstanding efforts to bring this new program to FSU,” said James Dever, senior professor in the Persis E. Rockwood School of Marketing and Department of Management at the FSU’s College of Business.

Located in FSU PC’s College of Applied Studies, the new bachelor’s degree in financial planning is available to students at FSU Panama City and FSU Tallahassee and fulfills the program’s vision of preparing students to become future certified financial planners .

“We developed this new financial planning program specifically for the needs of industry and for students to succeed in their careers,” said Amy Polick, associate dean of the College of Applied Studies. “The innovative curriculum includes courses leading to eligibility to take the CFP exam and a range of others that teach the applied skills needed to be effective financial planners in practice.”

The program is available online and on campus, and was created to provide maximum flexibility for students who may be working in business or other industries while pursuing their degrees.
