Bread Financial supports the humanitarian mission of the American Red Cross through the annual disaster giving program

The American Red Cross Southern and Central Ohio Region recognizes Columbus, Ohio-based Bread Financial for increasing its annual support of Red Cross disaster relief through the Annual Giving Program for disasters (ADGP) with a gift of $500,000. By giving proactively, Bread Financial helps ensure that the Red Cross is prepared to meet the urgent needs of people affected by disasters large and small across America.

ADGP members, along with their employees and customers, pledge financial and in-kind donations before disasters, fueling the Red Cross with strong infrastructure, trained volunteers, innovative technology and critical resources needed to provide relief and support to people in crisis These donations enable the Red Cross to respond to disasters at any time, providing a safe place to sleep, a hot meal, emotional support and resources to aid recovery, while helping to prepare individuals and communities for the disasters that still await they have to come

The Red Cross responds to more than 60,000 disasters across the country each year, providing comfort and hope to people during what can be the worst days of their lives. Major disasters such as hurricanes, floods and wildfires are increasing in frequency and intensity, resulting in more vulnerable and displaced people in need of support. In what has become a chronic disaster environment, donations from ADGP members are more important than ever, fueling Red Cross preparedness and strengthening response efforts.

“ADGP members like Bread Financial are truly extraordinary because they understand the importance of having vital resources in place before a disaster strikes,” said Anne McKeough, director of development for the American Red Cross. “We are so grateful for these forward-thinking donors who ensure we are ready to help people in their darkest hours, when and where we are needed most.”

Bread Financial’s donation also supports RC View, a state-of-the-art disaster event management system that provides all Red Cross teams with a shared disaster response capability. It allows the Red Cross to share a common operational picture with its partners and leverage near-real-time data to better manage disaster operations and help survivors more efficiently than ever before. RC View also helps the Red Cross create preparedness plans by tracking historical response data to better understand when and where communities may need additional support. Having replaced time-consuming manual and paper processes, RC View is helping the Red Cross speed up its response time, make better resource decisions and ensure services reach those most in need.

“The environment is under increasing stress and extreme weather events are occurring more frequently and with greater intensity. Bread Financial recognizes the powerful role technology, data and analytics play in helping the Red Cross prepare and respond to urgent and unprecedented disasters, especially for the most vulnerable,” said Ralph Andretta, president and CEO of Bread Financial. “This gift supports our shared interest in providing immediate care and comfort to people in need, as well as long-term solutions that ensure more resilient communities.”

Donations from ADGP members, such as Bread Financial, also support the basic needs of families affected by house fires, which comprise the bulk of Red Cross response efforts, and help ensure that the Red Cross can continue to educate people across the country about disaster preparedness so they can deal with crises in their country. communities when the unthinkable happens.

“We are grateful to Bread Financial for their incredibly generous gift to help fund these digital and technology advancements at the Red Cross,” said Stephanie Byrd, Regional Executive for Central & Southern Ohio. “Also, we applaud Bread Financial for being such a wonderful community partner, working with us to support individuals and families here in Columbus, Central Ohio and across the country.”
