MOUNDSVILLE — Thousands of students in several states, including Ohio and West Virginia, now have access to an online financial literacy program thanks to a sponsorship from Bayer Heritage Federal Credit Union.

Bayer Heritage FCU increased to facilitate partial or full distance learning in the wake of COVID-19. Thanks to their sponsorship, more than 21,342 students and teachers in 86 schools in West Virginia, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Ohio and Texas have free access to Banzai. Banzai is an award-winning online financial literacy program and content library of customizable articles, calculators, and coaches. All these resources are available to students at home or in the classroom through any device that can access the Internet.
“Banzai is a web-based financial literacy program. Kids have their own accounts and work on tasks that are based on real life,” says Morgan Vandagriff, co-founder of Banzai. “But because Bayer Heritage FCU is sponsoring it, local schools get it for free. More than ever, it’s important for children to develop strong financial skills to prepare them for the real world, and Bayer Heritage FCU realizes this and is doing something about it.”
Banzai’s content builds a practical knowledge base and gives students the tools to create a strong financial future. While students are learning, teachers can easily monitor and assess their progress remotely. After completing Banzai, students will know how to keep track of where their money is and what it’s used for, recognize financial trade-offs, create a budget, and more. At a time when many are facing unprecedented financial challenges, these lessons are invaluable. Banzai resources are available at bayerhfcu.teachbanzai.com.
Bayer Heritage FCU is working with Banzai to develop financial literacy in the community by investing time, money, industry expertise and a variety of credit union resources. Beyond the Banzai Library, Bayer Heritage FCU also offers virtual or classroom presentations by local experts on timely topics.
Banzai resources are used by over 80,000 teachers in the US. Courses align with West Virginia, South Carolina, Pennsylvania, Ohio and Texas state curriculum requirements, making the program a fun way for students to gain vital financial literacy skills.
